The International Conference on Water, Food Security, Energy, and the Environmental Sustainability in the Sahara (WFEES-2026) convenes scientists and researchers to exchange advanced knowledge and research findings in the fields of water, energy, and environmental sciences.
Organized by El Oued University, Algeria, this pioneering conference addresses the most pressing sustainability challenges facing arid and semi-arid regions, with particular focus on the unique ecological and socio-economic context of the Sahara Desert.
WFEES-2026 provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of water resources, food security, renewable energy, and environmental protection in Saharan environments.
The conference fosters collaboration between scientists, engineers, and policymakers to exchange information, ideas, and experiences, building partnerships that address the nexus of water, food, and energy in arid zones.
Groundwater management in arid regions, wastewater treatment and reuse, smart irrigation systems, desalination technologies, water quality monitoring, and Saharan aquifer hydrogeology.
Hydrological modeling, flood and drought risk assessment, integrated water resource management, and transboundary water governance in arid zones.
Sustainable agriculture in desert environments, agroecology and oasis farming, soil salinity management, protected cultivation, agricultural biotechnology, and food supply resilience.
Precision agriculture, smart farming technologies, robotics in agriculture, crop adaptation to climate change, and digital tools for food production in arid environments.
Solar and wind energy in Saharan regions, hybrid renewable systems, hydrogen and green fuels, energy storage technologies, and off-grid energy solutions.
Smart grids, energy optimization, sustainable buildings and energy efficiency, and renewable energy policies for arid and Saharan regions.
Climate change impacts in arid zones, desertification and land degradation, carbon footprint reduction, ecological restoration, and environmental risk assessment.
Air and soil pollution monitoring, circular economy approaches, sustainable waste management, environmental monitoring, and industrial ecology.
Artificial intelligence in environmental systems, IoT for water and energy, remote sensing and GIS, digital twins for smart cities, data science, smart sensors, and robotics.
Conservation of Saharan biodiversity, oasis ecosystem management, native species preservation, ecosystem resilience, wildlife monitoring, ecological rehabilitation, and sustainable tourism.
